and that's a wrap!

The 5th graders all got a chance to add their personal mark on the school by adding brushloads of paint to this year's 5th grade legacy mural. It was a pleasure to work with all the kids on the wall. Some students had only been here for a year, some I remember having way back in kindergarten. It was great to hear what their plans were for the summer and where they will be going to for middle school in the fall.

Thanks to all the 5th graders for bringing a whole bunch of personality and creativity to Zamorano!

Thanks to our administration for giving me the freedom in scheduling classes during the last couple weeks of school, so that the mural could get done.

Thanks to our teachers for their support and flexibility throughout the year, but in particular, during these past couple of weeks.

We've got two more days of school, so let me leave you with pics of the completed mural by our Zamo kids:)

getting closer...

Another day of painting and we almost had this thing finished. Tomorrow should be the day. There are about 30 5th graders that have not gotten to paint yet, but they will all get a chance tomorrow:)

5th grade legacy mural 2012

Well, it's been a while since my last post. Things have been going on. BIG things.

This week I am working on the end of the year mural painting with our 5th graders. This is a chance for all our leaving students to leave a positive permanent mark on our school campus. The students really get up for it, and many of them have been asking when it would be their turn since watching last year's 5th graders do theirs.

This may be my favorite week of the school year:)

The design was inspired by a drawing one of our 5th graders did in class. I drew it out on the wall all day Monday and the kids have been painting it for the past 3 days in groups of 6 at a time. My goal is to be done by the end of the day tomorrow. I know we will be close...

Check out the progress.
